Job description: Our Client strives to make a difference within the communities they work in. Due to expansion, they are looking for vibrant, a dynamic and professional social worker with experience assessing prospective foster carers across the East Midlands.

Candidates will been to be qualified social workers with ideally three years' post qualification experience of undertaking fostering assessments Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, child care law and safeguarding issues are essential.

Part Time home based position with a salary of £25,000-£31,000 pro rata

* To contribute to the recruitment and selection of foster carers through recruitment drives, open days, reviewing initial enquiries and undertaking initial home visits.

* To undertake fostering assessments, using the competencies-based Coram BAAF Form F, including following up safeguarding checks and references.

* To present applications to Client panel and to attend local authority fostering panels to present Form F's and matching reports on behalf of the agency.

* To participate in agency training activities for both foster carers and staff.

* To formally review the approval of foster carers at least annually and report to a fostering panel.

* To provide on-going supervision and support to foster carers post-placement, in line with statutory requirements and agency procedures.

* To visit and contact foster carers in accordance with agency procedures and with greater frequency and at short notice if necessary.

* To identify training needs for carers and to ensure that these are met.

* To contribute to and ensure that staff and foster carers are kept up to date with current training and practice issues in foster care.

* To ensure all statutory requirements in relation to looked after children and carers are met.

* To attend and participate in child care reviews, case conferences and other meetings, as required.

* To ensure foster carers maintain accurate daily logs of placements.

* To keep placing agencies informed of developments with any placement, including incidents and allegations.

* To ensure that any paperwork for a placement is completed promptly.

* To attend, as required, meetings and reviews and to contribute on behalf of the Clients Services to the decision-making process.

* To be aware of the Client Services' safeguarding policy and procedures, and other relevant policies such as that relating to children who go missing, and to report immediately any matter concerning child protection or child care concerns to a line manager and the responsible placing authority.

* To advise children and young people of their rights and to assist in the use of the complaints procedures and facilitate their use, where necessary.

* To ensure foster carers are aware of the agency's policy for dealing with allegations and serious complaints against foster carers and their rights within it.

* To undertake and facilitate any case work as necessary with a child in negotiation with the placing authority, e.g. life story work, bridging placement work etc.

* To facilitate/supervise contact between child and their family in accordance with the care plan.

* To assist in the identification of appropriate education placements for young people and to assist with leaving care plans.
