Front End Developer

Job description: My Client, a local authority in East London, is currently looking for a Front End Developer with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.Net skills to work on an initial 2 month contract basis. This does have potential to be extended.


Overall Responsibilities:

1. Working with other members of the multidisciplinary prototyping team, assist with the specification and design of end-to-end digital services,covering, for example: user need, business objectives, scope,constraints (such as performance, resources etc.), evaluation and
prioritisation of user stories and identification and mitigation of technical risks.

2. Design large and / or complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result ensuring that the work is consistent with the Digital Service Standard.

3. Create and amend programmes in accordance with the design.

4. Plan, design and conduct tests of programs; correct errors and re-test to achieve an error-free result.

5. Take part in reviews of user stories and code, and take part in reviews of own work, ensuring that the work of the team is consistent with the Digital Service Standard.

6. Plan, arrange and control meetings, workshops and relations with users during test planning and throughout subsequent development and testing activities.

7. Produce outline system specifications covering for example: objectives, scope, constraints (such as performance, resources etc.), hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met, and alternatives considered.

8. Working with the Service Designers and User Researchers, specify user / system interfaces, including for example: menus, screen dialogues, inputs, reports, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.

9. Take responsibility for the design, coding, testing and documentation of end-to-end digital services to meet user needs.

10. Take responsibility for the management of the testing activities within a development project, overseeing the planning of the system and acceptance tests and coordinating the execution of these plans.


Technical​ ​Experience/​ ​Skills​ ​/​ ​Knowledge

● HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.Net
● Demonstrates an understanding of current developments in the application of Information Systems and is able to assimilate and interpret advice from specialists - technical or otherwise.
● Proficient in software tools which automate or assist part of the development process.
● Proficient in understanding and applying organised and documented sets of techniques, and proven methods, intended to facilitate the structured and open development of applications.
● Proficient in understanding software which enables the user to create,populate and manipulate data structures.
● Proficient in the digital development techniques and methods required to deliver modern, high quality user interfaces and interactions.
● Familiar with the IT / IS infrastructure, operating systems, configurations and the IT applications and service processes used within the organisation.
● Familiar with testing techniques used to plan and execute software tests of all application components (functional and non-functional) to verify that the software satisfies specified requirements and to detect errors.
