Job description: Project Worker - Gangs & Violence Reduction

Reports to: Gang & Violence Reduction Service Coordinator
Level of screening: Enhanced DBS/ Prison clearance

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Project Worker to work with a well established charity based within a Category B men's prison in Leeds housing 1212 prisoners.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the development and delivery of the Gangs and Violence Reduction Service within this Leeds prison.

The role will be 4 days a week totaling just under 31 hours per week.

This team will provide a range of appropriate interventions for those at risk of gang involvement and influence.

The Project Worker (Gangs and Violence Reduction) will contribute to information, which is shared for intelligence, reduction in violence and to support prisoners to lead a gang free life in both the establishment and community.

As Project Worker you will have experience and knowledge of prison estates and the processes and procedures within the prison environment. You will work across the spectrum of this delivery, holding a caseload of referrals and supporting prisoners via a range of interventions including one to one support and group work.

The prisoners supported through this project will often be vulnerable and challenging and project workers will need to be resilient, skilled and flexible to ensure that we deliver a high-quality service.

As Project Worker (Gangs and Violence Reduction) you will be engaging with Service Users, drawing upon each of the five competencies: risk of harm, engagement, diversity, communication and teamwork. This will be a great opportunity to be a positive influence for change and to work with a wide range of partners to address service users' criminogenic needs.

Person Specification:

Educated to GCSE Standard as minimum.
Must have worked in a prison before.
Must have worked with people in or affiliated with gangs.
Knowledgeable of relevant legislation and policy relating to gangs and serious violence.
