Job description: Job Title: Head of Communications
Hours: 27 hours per week
Type: Permanent
Salary: £52,306
Location: Middlesbrough, TS2
Closing Date: 12/11/2020
My client are looking for an internal and external Head of Communications to develop and deliver the group's communications plan to all stakeholders, ensuring the effective use of appropriate communication methods, branding and engagement to promote their diverse range of activities while protecting its reputation.
Job Role -
*Advise and work with the chief executive, executive and service directors on internal and external communications to ensure they are influential, builds effective relationships, enhancing positive reputation and raising its profile locally, regionally and nationally
*Deliver a regular brand audit across the group, developing the identity and image, ensuring the branding architecture is used appropriately and accurately and standards are high quality
*Lead on media and PR activity, including national and trade opportunities and manage day to day proactive and reactive PR to enhance its profile, protect its reputation and influence appropriately
*Guide the team and senior staff members to ensure appropriate management and delivery of sensitive and controversial messages with the media and other stakeholders
*Create and ensure delivery of a comms plan for the business, ensuring all interlinked projects and marketing activity are taken into account
*Support the Director of Corp Affairs and work with the head of policy and research to develop and deliver an influencing framework and priorities which support/enable strategic/business growth priorities
*Deliver comms leadership, support, planning and guidance to new initiatives, service projects and improvements, including creating comms plans, ensuring consistency, values and brand are maintained
*Lead on the development, management and maximisation of online presence
*Ensure effective internal and external comms systems are in place and functioning in a timely and accurate manner, including the planning and production of corporate communications and documents
*Develop external partnerships and lead on engagement across the business to develop communication plans and activities in line with structure and strategic priorities to promote the business, its achievements and priorities, influence and protect reputation
Candidate Requirements -
*Vast experience of effective engagement with local and national media and a track record of positive PR delivery and the effective management of reactive PR
*Highly skilled in advanced communication techniques, with a well-developed understanding of different methods and messaging for different audiences and stakeholder groups
*Proven experience of managing and protecting brand identity across different mediums
*A solutions-orientated thinker, skilled influencer, negotiator and relationship manager, able to communicate confidently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, customers, staff and board directors to include report writing and presentations
*Experienced in the development of plans, strategies and policy
*Ability to lead, inspire, motivate and develop colleagues at all levels with a commitment to working with others to achieve the organisation's vision, values, and priorities
*Can develop and manage a customer driven service and ensure continuous improvement
