Job description: A local authority based in Merseyside are looking for Health & Safety professionals to join their team. These are full time, ongoing agency positions and the successful candidates must have a full professional Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH/Degree/Diploma etc.), experience in a similar role and ideally experience within a local authority setting.

There are two positions available, a H&S Advisor and a Lead H&S Advisor.

Health & Safety Advisor;

To be line-managed by the Interim Corporate Health and Safety Lead Advisor and thereby support them as directed in the delivery of the Lead Advisor's role.
Based on the priorities established by the Lead Advisor to set and effectively manage the work-programme of the Council's 1.5fte Health and Safety Advisors and to supervise their activity so that it is competently and efficiently provided.
To deliver health and safety risk assessments and provide appropriate guidance to departments and those organisations (e.g. schools) who have commissioned the Corporate Health and Safety Team for such purposes.

Lead Health & Safety Advisor;

Advise the client on its compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance in respect to health and safety, prioritise areas of risk and identify/implement measures to mitigate such issues.
Ensure that the health and safety of the client's employees and others who may be affected by the client's activities is safeguarded.
Facilitate the Council's health and safety governance arrangements so that they are fit for purpose and stand-up to scrutiny.
Provide competent and timely Health and Safety advice and support to managers and employees at all levels within the client's departments.
Develop safety policy and organisational procedures including safety alerts.
Develop and provide risk management tools, such as model risk assessments, to enable all client departments to appropriately manage their health and safety risks.
The lead advisor must have experience overseeing and management teams of H&S professionals

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to these roles and as such are offering the following hourly remuneration for the successful candidates;

H&S Advisor: £22 p/hr - £25 p/hr Umbrella Ltd
H&S Lead Advisor: £27 p/hr - £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd
