Job description: A Local Authority based in Nottinghamshire is looking for a Health & Safety/Fire Risk Advisor to join their team. This is a Part time position, for 3 days a week, on a temporary ongoing contract and the successful candidate must have a full professional H&S qualification, ideally a full Fire Risk qualification, experience with Legionella/Fire Risk Assessments/H&S in the past and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is twofold, to make progress on a new Legionella policy and to undertake a backlog of Fire Risk Assessments which require a reasonable degree of mobility to undertake successfully (e.g. inspection of roof voids etc.)

The main general responsibilities of the role will include;

Provide guidance on security of Council buildings and property.
Lead responsibility for ensuring that health and safety inspections of Council premises are conducted and report findings and recommendations are provided to management.
Management and development of the Assistant Health and Safety Officer to include, delegation of tasks, monitor work, assessment and review of training and development.
Initiate health and safety policies and codes of safe working practice, reviewing as necessary and ensuring effective communication of safety policies and codes of safe working practice to management and employees to establish safe working practices.
Lead on the investigation of accidents, dangerous occurrences and near-misses and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
Ensure RIDDOR reporting procedure is conducted in accordance with the regulations.
Lead on compiling accident statistics and produce reports with any necessary recommendations to Chief Officers and Council Committees.
Liaise with appropriate external bodies to achieve co-operation in all aspects of health, safety and welfare which affect the Council e.g HSE, EMAS, Fire and Rescue Service, Environment Agency, local authorities, voluntary agencies, etc.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this role and as such are offering £275 p/day - £325 p/day Umbrella Ltd, dependant on qualifications/experience, for the duration of the assignment (approx. £570 - £660 per week after deduction).
