Job description: A local authority based in West London is looking for an Environmental Health/Health & Safety Officer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary agency role and the successful candidate must have experience in a wide range of H&S/EHO activities, a full professional qualification and ideally experience in a similar role.

The main purpose of the position is to protect the health, safety and welfare of employees and others in the area through the enforcement of health and safety standards in commercial premises and work activities.
You will also help to protect the health of consumers through the enforcement of food hygiene and food standards, including the labelling and presentation of food in commercial premises.

The successful candidate will be able to show the following experience/competency;

To be able to carry out, as directed, a range of services in accordance with legislation, codes of practice, corporate policies, local procedures and good professional practice
Undertake enforcement at the three Football Clubs as required.
To undertake consistent, proportionate, targeted, accountable and transparent enforcement action, in accordance with best practice advice and guidance and enforcement policies
To take a flexible approach to duties outside of normal office hours including weekends for example to; investigate major accidents, monitor events, inspect premises where access is not available during normal working hours.
To conduct investigations and other enforcement work with regard to legislation, such as the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), Criminal Proceedings and Investigations Act (CPIA) and Human Rights Act (HRA), which confines the scope of action.
To properly handle evidence, records and data to ensure that confidentiality, continuity, evidence integrity.
Instigate all necessary legal action in line with Council's policies, including the preparation and presentation of evidence at Court and Tribunals
Respond to correspondence and maintain up to date records on the computer systems and files of inspections and other visits made and action taken to ensure a complete record of cases is maintained in the event of later enquiries, complaints or subsequent legal action.

The successful candidate will hold the following essential qualifications;

Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board.
Evidence of active participation in continuing professional development.

The Desirable qualifications are as follows;

Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
A health and safety specific qualification i.e. CIEH Diploma in Health and Safety at Work
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
