Our client, a local authority based in Portsmouth are looking for a Highways Engineer to join their team. This is on a temporary ongoing contract basis.
The purpose of the role is to:
To support senior engineers and to successfully design and deliver highway and/or structures schemes from inception through to completion.
Schemes will range from small junction improvements through to multimillion pound major projects.
To propose scheme options and prepare designs from inception through to detailed design and subsequent implementation in accordance with current national and local design standards and policies; giving consideration to health and safety, equalities and sustainability.
To establish agreed solutions with interested parties, which meet engineering and environmental considerations.
To establish achievable scheme programmes.
To manage external consultants, as well as project staff to ensure targets are achieved.
- To prepare estimates, monitor and review project costs to ensure completion within agreed budgets.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;
A degree/HND or equivalent would be ideal but not essential.
Previous experience of Highways Design, Project Management and budget management.
