Job description: Role: Prevention Manager
Location: Kensington, London W8 7NX
Work pattern: 36 hrs, Mon - Fri

Contract Type: Temporary 6 month Contract

I'm looking for a Prevention Manager to lead the service to prevent homelessness by establishing a framework on community partnerships that will deliver early housing advice and support. You will manage teams that offer a range of solutions to prevent homelessness, enabling households to sustain tenancies or access homes in the private rented sector or supported housing.

Key Responsibilities
*Implement the new housing duties as outlined in the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and put in place performance measures to review periodically its impact on clients, and services.
*Plan, develop and project manage the implementation of a new service delivery within a complex and high risk service area comprising front line and triage assessment services, homeless prevention and relief services and private sector service.
*To create, manage and deliver a high quality, creative and responsive service to all housing clients, and the approximately 5000 projected presentations for housing assistance each year.
*To create and deliver a wide range of homeless prevention initiatives as well as lead, develop and manage assessment of housing need.
*Overall management responsibility for a number of teams comprising housing advisers, supported accommodation team and private rented officers to provide expert housing options and advice services to residents of all tenures including those in housing need or who are/threatened with homelessness.
*Ensure delivery of continuous improvements in all aspects of the service, in particular increasing the range of homeless prevention options available to presenting clients, correctly identifying and tackling causes of homelessness to seek lasting solutions for such clients.
*Lead, motivate and develop staff to create and maintain a highly competent and participative workforce that is motivated and trained to deliver a transformed service focusing on prevention.
*Identify, secure, deploy and manage the resources necessary for the professional service area to meet/exceed its objectives, including management and monitoring of the allocated budget.
*To contribute materially to the Housing Management Team and to deputise for the Head of Housing Needs as appropriate.


Qualifications: Educated to degree standard or equivalent


*Proven ability to lead and provide strategic vision and leadership.
*Detailed knowledge of homelessness legislation, guidance and case law, and knowledge of the broader housing environment
*Proven ability to monitor performance and take remedial action to achieve targets.
*Proven ability to set and manage complex budgets, achieving excellent outcomes.
*Ability to review service delivery to achieve higher quality and best value; and demonstrate success
*Ability to communicate effectively to a broad range of stakeholders.
*Ability to write complex correspondence and reports
*High level of IT skills working with a data base and software applications to produce presentational material and reports effectively.
*Extensive experience of leading teams and/or services to deliver outcomes in a customer focused environment
