Job description: Homeless Support Worker (PT) - Cambridge
An East Anglia based Housing Association are recruiting for a Homeless Support Worker to work part time in a Female only Homeless Housing scheme in Cambridge.

The Scheme
The role is based in a Supported Housing Scheme that offers temporary accommodation in conjunction with a Support and Risk Management Package to women aged between 16 and 24

The Role
The focus of the role is to work as part of the team in the running of service, supporting homeless customers to live independently and return to a tenancy. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*To offer support, advice and accommodation to homeless customers. Ensuring customers are informed of all available services internally and externally.
*To make referrals to other agencies where appropriate, in line with best practice and with particular emphasis on supporting and encouraging customers to make informed choices to enhance their quality of life, in line with Siffolk County Council Service guidelines and specification.
*To assist in the selection of new customers and undertake related administrative tasks and to implement the referral and admissions procedures.
*To accept and monitor telephone referrals and to assist/sign post in finding alternative accommodation where appropriate.
*To liaise with outside agencies and statutory departments such as the Benefits Agency, Social Services, Police, Local Authority housing and Health professionals where necessary. Taking into account at all times Orwell's confidentiality and access to information policy and procedure.
*To undertake support sessions with customers working towards individual support plans, focusing on customers aims and aspirations. Ensuring reviews are undertaken and action plans followed.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require previous experience in supported housing, ideally working with the homeless. As the scheme is female only, only female staff can apply.

The Contract
The role is part-time, working 24 hours per week over 3 days - including one weekend day. This is an initial 3 month contract, which is likely to be extended or made permanent.
