Job description: Homelessness Prevention Officer, Devon.

We have a Temp Contract available for a Local Authority based in Devon. Please read below for more detail.

Requirements:

*Demonstrable experience of working in a busy and pressurised environment as part of a team to achieve set targets and outcomes

* Demonstrable application of homelessness legislation i.e. Housing Act 1996, 2002, Retaliatory Eviction & Deregulation Act 2015, Localism Act 2011 and related legisl



Purpose of the role:

The successful candidate will work as part of a front line multi-disciplinary team to provide early support and preventative action to improve the stability and financial independence of individuals and families in key areas of: housing, employment, education, health, and wellbeing.

You will work to identify individuals at risk of crisis with a specific focus on homelessness and will provide access to support and assistance in housing, employment, training, debt and budget advice, and in particular work to reduce the risk of individuals and families becoming homeless.

You will also be required to work with individuals at risk to develop and co-ordinate through case work, personalised support plans designed to promote self-sufficiency and future stability and where appropriate a multi-agency response. This post-holder will liaise with other council services including the housing and homeless service and external organisations in Devon and on occasion outside of the Borough, including (but not limited to) employment services, other authorities, private landlords, housing providers, voluntary organisations, legal and health professionals.

The role will be predominantly office based although there is an expectation that some outreach work will be undertaken to provide advice and assistance to individuals and/or communities.
