Job description: Housing Solutions (Hospital Discharge Lead) - Walthamstow
A local authority in Walthamstow are recruiting for a Housing Solutions Officer to lead on providing housing advice to hospital patients at discharge and determine the benefits of having onsite housing support and homelessness advice in accordance to the housing and homeless pathway.

The Role
The focus of this role is to provide housing advice to patients being discharged from hospital and help them determin the benefits of having onsite housing support, as well as providing homelessness advice. Your main responsibilities will include:
-Design and implement a hospital discharge protocol that aligns with Social Care and Housing Statutory frameworks
-Improve understanding relating to housing strategy and housing and homelessness pathways at Whips Cross and Goodmayes Hospital.
-Manage a complex caseload of homeless prevention/relief cases arising from discharge processes in Whipps Cross and Goodmayes Hospitals
-Lead the evaluation of the Discharge project
-Develop robust partnerships and relationships between the NHS, Adult Social Care and Housing
-Act as in house expert on discharge issues, scanning health, housing and social care sectors for best practice and institutional learning

The Candidate
To be considered for this vacancy, you will require the following knowledge, skills and experience:
-Knowledge of Homelessness and Housing Advice casework.
-Knowledge of relevant legislation, and of the private rented sector.
-Experience of providing advice on housing/benefits matters.
-Experience of managing complex casework.
-Experience of private rented sector, preferably in a homelessness or housing advice environment.
-Experience of using IT systems.
-Ability to effectively manage a diverse and demanding workload with limited supervision.
-Ability to understand and analyse complex information.
-Ability to work on their own and identify their own targets.
-Ability to develop and train staff
-Ability to develop procedures and work instructions

The Contract
This is initially a two month contract, covering the recruitment for a permanent position, though there is a great chance of securing the permanent vacancy once you are in post. The role is full time, working 36 hours per week.
