Job description: Housing Assistant
A local authority in Redditch are recruiting for a Housing Assistant to provide a front line telephone service for customers accessing housing locality services as well as providing administrative assistance to a the Housing Locality Team.

The Role
The focus of the role is to provide a front line telephone service for customers accessing housing locality services as well as providing administrative assistance to a the Housing Locality Team - this will include the following responsibilities:
*To take calls from customers and use my expertise to understand their enquiry or problem that needs solving.
*To arrange appropriate appointment times for specialist housing locality officers/leaders as required.
*To provide advice to customers relating to tenancy management, including repairs, terminations, mutual exchanges and housing waiting lists and allocations.
*To be responsible for the Council's garage's within a defined locality to include void management; re-letting, liaising with Repairs and Maintenance to process repair works, all administration to include updating the housing system and monitoring payments.
*To assist the Rent / Welfare Officers with rent arrears monitoring.
*To assist tenancy management specialists with mutual exchange administration and take responsibility for keeping the web based system up to date.
*To be responsible for the monitoring of the fire testing contract reporting issues for action directly to Officers/Leaders that have been identified by contractors.
*To assist Officers, Leaders and Housing Managers with administrative tasks as required.
*To carry out general administrative tasks including post, invoicing, filing, sickness monitoring, maintaining all manual and computer records.
*To be responsible for inputting and updating all housing systems to include the demand capture system and housing management system (saffron) keeping records up to date to include individual customer notes

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare field and a knowledge and understanding of social housing landlord services and welfare benefits is essential as you will support specialist Housing Locality Officers in delivering the day to day services managing the Council's housing stock.

The Contract
This is a full time, three month contract which may be extended.
