Job description: Housing Choices Team Leader, Coalville
A Coalville based local authority are recruiting for a Housing Choices Team Leader to lead and manage the housing choices team to provide an excellent service to those seeking assistance to find housing, to manage the housing register and to develop new approaches to homelessness prevention in response to changing need.

The Role
Key responsibilities for this role, will include:
-Provide leadership to the team, setting the direction for the service (in consultation with the Strategic Housing Team Manager) and ensuring that all team members are aware of changing requirements and are signed up to them
-To undertake day to day supervision of the team, ensuring that every member of the team understands what is required of them and how their work fits the overall work of the team. Ensure that all work is being covered and that no backlogs are building up.
-To conduct regular one to one's with team members and to hold regular team meetings. In conjunction with the strategy service manager to set and monitor targets for performance delivery. Undertake training needs assessments with team members and plan and enable training to meet those needs.
-In conjunction with the Strategic Housing Team Manager, manage the budget for the team, allocating forecasted spend across different elements of the prevention service, monitoring these, and seeking always to get value for money.
-To develop new approaches to homelessness prevention in response to changing need
-Contribute to the development of the Council's Homelessness Strategy and lead on the delivery of the Homelessness Strategy Annual Plan with partners
-Develop new homelessness prevention services and solutions in response to changing needs and through looking at best practice across the country.
-To work proactively with neighbouring districts to develop joint areas of work and to provide cross district services where appropriate
-To understand the requirements of the Homelessness Reduction Act and plan the implementation
-To work with colleagues from across the Council and in other agencies, to prevent or delay homelessness wherever possible

The Candidate
In order to apply for this role, you will require excellent Housing Choices experience, within a housing options or homeless prevention role, and ideally will have worked within a management role previously.

The Contract
The role is on an initial 6 week contract, but is likely to be extended! The role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week.
