Job description: Environmental Health Officer, Halifax
A local authority in West Yorkshire are recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer to work in the housing section dealing with housing disrepair complaints and also HMO inspections on an initial 6 month contract.

The Role
In this vacancy you will be carrying out a range of complex and in-depth inspections and other enforcement and explaining legislation, guidance and enforcement procedures to a range of people.
You will be making judgements on housing standards and safety, based on current housing policies and legislation and writing reports.

The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
-Demonstrable knowledge of Environmental Health functions and their regulation
-Proven investigative and problem solving skills Interpersonal and communication skills Verbal and written communication skills Ability to take decisive and resolute enforcement action
-Ability to deal with potentially confrontational situations IT Skills Ability to deal with and prioritise a large workload.
-Proven ability to use IT packages Demonstrable experience of working within a customer focused role

The Contract
This is an initial 6 month contract, but has the potential to be extended. The role is 37 hours per week.
