Job description: Housing Officer, Cambridge
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Housing Officer for a local authority in Cambridge. As a Housing Officer based in Cambridge, you will require previous experience in a housing management role, which involved tenant liaison and dealing with ASB.
The key focus of this role is to be:
-Responsible for delivering a range of comprehensive tenancy and estate management housing services to Cambridge City Council tenants, leaseholders and residents within a neighbourhood or residents in circa one quarter of the City Council housing stock, or temporary housing customers.
-Manage tenancies, on a day-to-day basis, within a defined neighbourhood and provide an efficient and an effective housing management service in compliance with the Council's legal obligations and corporate policies.
-Enforce the Council's tenancy conditions particularly in respect of anti-social behaviour, and to initiate possession action in liaison with the Council's Legal department.
-Actively encourage and support Residents' Groups and to establish effective communication with their elected representatives. To attend residents' meetings as and when required to implement tenant compacts.
-Identify and initiate environmental improvements or other projects and liaise with others involved bringing projects to fruition.
-Deal with emergencies e.g. fire and flood, and provide relief cover in other areas as necessary.
-Assist with helping meet the Council's void performance targets
-Oversee maximising the collection of all rental income and other monies, by taking proactive action with tenants and leaseholders to maximise their income, minimising their outgoings and enabling them to pay their rent effectively and where this is not possible to instigate court action to minimise rent arrears.
-Assist in achieving rent arrears' targets within the neighbourhood.
-Effectively manage the capacity of the service including any waiting lists and eligibility criteria as the service develops and to anticipate the impact of changes within external services that may impact on housing officers.
This is a five-month contract, working 37 hours a week - start and finish times are flexible.
