Job description: Housing Options, Redditch
A local authority in Worcestershire are recruiting for a temporary Housing Options Officer to cover the recruitment process for a permanent vacancy.

The Role
In this role you will be assessing housing applications and options for the homeless, and those at risk of homelessness, in line with the Housing Act 1996, notably Parts 6 And 7, as well as:
-Providing advice and information on housing options to the public.
-To carry out assessment of need. Devise support plans to prevent homelessness. Produce and maintain detailed case records.
-To prepare and submit all relevant documentation to the Council's Legal Department in relation to reviews of homeless decisions, evictions from temporary accommodation, recovery of debts.
-To provide a home visiting service to eligible service users in order to give support and guidance, provide practical help and inspect living conditions.
-To attend and participate in regular Housing Solutions Team meetings and work with team to provide an effective service.

The Candidate
It is essential that you have a minimum Of Two Years' experience in a housing role before applying for this position. To be successful in the role, you will require extensive knowledge and experience within the following areas:
-Knowledge Of Housing Act 1996 Part 6 And 7 And Other relevant legislation, guidance, policy and directives
-Working knowledge of homeless issues
-Detailed knowledge of housing and council tax benefit legislation
-Able to clearly demonstrate knowledge of housing legislation
-Working knowledge of the repairing obligations of the council and tenants responsibilities
-A good working knowledge of current housing issues, policies and legislation, proven research and report writing skills
-Awareness of Project Management Methods and the ability to manage a case load.
-Ability to consider analysis and make decisions
-Working knowledge of other welfare benefits and pension and tax credits

The Contract
This vacancy ia on initial two-month contract with a good chance of being extended, as it is covering the recruitment process for a permanent role. You will be able to apply for the permanent role once in the position.The roles are full time, working 37 hours per week.
