Job description: Housing Support Assistant - Medway

4 Month Contract
9-5 - monday to Friday (Shift work)
Based in Medway

Experience
Essential
*Working knowledge of housing ICT databases and understanding how they can be used to deliver customer services. (25% weighting)
*Working knowledge of social housing and legislation relevant to Tenancy and Estate Management (20% weighting)



MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To assist and support the Housing Officer(s) in the recovery of low level sub account arrears including current and former Tenant property and garage arrears.

To assist Housing Officers in other tenancy related matters including mutual exchanges, garage allocations, signing of new tenancies, vacant property management, RTB applications, and general administration duties.

To respond to general enquiries received by telephone or by visitors to Gun Wharf across a wide range of tenancy management areas, providing a 'one-stop' service where possible, and referring to colleagues only where necessary.

Manage the allocation of garages tenancies.

To use all available resources to trace former tenants in the pursuit of housing debt to the council and make use of debt recovery agencies as appropriate.

To assist in the preparation of debt write off reports on a regular basis and submit them in accordance with council policy.

To assist housing officers with the preparation of applications/cases for court in relation to former tenants arrears and recharges.

Send relevant information and advise clients when they are in difficulty and refer clients to money advice agency where appropriate.

To support the housing officers administratively in the mutual exchange process up to sign up.

To assist in the void management process to ensure that vacant properties are tenanted as quickly as possible to minimise void rent loss.
