Job description: Housing Support Worker, Gillingham A large Kent-based housing association are recruiting for a Support Worker to join their generic team in Gillingham, to provide empower service users to live independently. These clients will include families, single people, domestic violence victims as well as the homeless and rough sleepers

The Role
The focus of this role is to empower service users a variety of problems to secure tenancies and live independently. This will include engaging service users, providing practical support with life skills and achieving positive outcomes within agreed timescales demonstrating a high level of customer service, as well as the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Manage the caseload throughput, ensuring you seek new referrals as well as closing cases appropriately in order to maximise the service delivery and the benefit to the community.
*Collaborate with colleagues to deliver the objectives of the Community Strategy Action Plan.
*Comply with the relevant regulatory framework standards in every aspect of service, ensuring all relevant paperwork regarding clients and the service delivery are maintained to an auditable standard.
*Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of yourself, your clients and your colleagues.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require the following experience, knowledge and skills:
*Previous support work experience, with strong knowledge of the issues affecting social housing customers.
*Ability to build rapport with service users whilst maintaining professional boundaries
*Proven ability to deal with challenging behaviour and resolve difficult situations
*Ability to communicate clearly and adapt own personal style to different audiences and situations
*Creative and tenacious problem solver
*Written English skills sufficient to write: reports, support plans, incident records court appeals
*Understanding of safeguarding practices
*Experience of working within defined frameworks and complying with policies, procedures and guidelines
*Knowledge of data protection regulations and experience of dealing with confidential information
*Competent user of Microsoft products. Willing to learn in-house ICT systems.
Due to the nature of the clients you will be working with, you will also require a DBS - if you have a current DBS on the update service, this will be beneficial to your application.

The Contract
This will be an initial 12 week temporary contract, with a strong chance of being extended or made permanent.
