Job description: A large Devon-based housing association are recruiting for a Support Assistant to join one of their sheltered schemes in Exmouth for a short term contract, providing person centred support to their residents.

The Scheme
This role is based in a scheme in Exmouth, for men and women aged 18 and over, with 23 units of accommodation that comes with individual packages of support, including offering pre-tenancy floating support and post tenancy work as well as bespoke mental health floating support. Ex-offenders are at high risk of homelessness due to dependence on drugs or alcohol or simply being unable to get support finding the right sort of accommodation on release.

The Role
This role is based within a sheltered housing scheme and the focus of the role is to support people to achieve their personal outcomes, promote independence and provide them with an improved quality of life and better social inclusion.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Providing a housing management service - assisting clients with day-to-day tenancy issues, payment of rent, claiming benefits, preparing units to let.
*Delivering a 'best practice' support service, appropriate to clients' needs.
*Assisting in the delivery of individual personalised support packages, reflective of different client needs, including culture and diversity issues.
*Ensuring clients have access to relevant external support services.
*Working with clients to agree and set goals and actions.
*Helping to provide practical support and information to clients when entering the service and throughout their involvement with the service, e.g., assisting clients in the completion of occupancy agreements and welfare benefit claims.
*Promote and encourage a high level of client involvement, consultation and communication.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require previous experience working within supported housing or a care background.

The Contract
This position will be a 12 week temporary contract which may be extended. The role will be part time, working 3 days per week. The days are relatively flexible and not set.
