Job description: Income Management Officer, Haringey.
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an Income Management Officer vacancy for a local authority in London.
As an Income Management Officer based in Haringey, you will need to have an RSL (Housing Association) background, or suitable credit control experience. Newly qualified graduates with a 2:1 or higher may also apply. This role is designed for employees in their first housing job and with the emphasis being on training and development; you would be expected to progress up the ladder relatively quickly.
In this role, you will:
-Undertake timely and robust recovery action to prevent arrears and maximise income,
-Take prompt recovery action from the onset of the tenancy and as part of early preventative action to ensure a responsible payment culture is embedded in all areas of the income collection process to prevent the build-up of arrears.
-Monitor rent accounts and implement effective solutions to stop tenants getting into debt, making timely referrals where necessary for the commencement or escalation of legal action or to the support services to enable them to maximise their benefit income or to obtain assistance to improve their financial capabilities.
-Maintain contact with tenants to ensure they are fully aware of their obligations to pay their rent and other charges and of the consequences of non-payment, through interviews, home visits, telephone contact and taking enforcement action if required.
-Carry out a full assessment of a tenant's circumstances, income and expenditure to ensure their arrears are cleared, payment agreements adhered to and appropriate referrals made.
-To have a good understanding of welfare benefits and keep up to date on any changes in policy and legislation. To identify, support and work effectively with vulnerable tenants in liaison with Tenancy Management, support services and agencies. To take appropriate recovery action, at the same time ensuring that the tenant is fully aware of the steps that will be taken where they incur arrears and how they can avoid the risk of eviction.
-In the absence of an available staff member in the Recovery and Litigation team, to attend or assist the team in organising and carrying out evictions.
This is a full-time role on a contract which runs until the end of the year and has a high chance of being extended or becoming permanent.
