Job description: My Client, a local authority in Hull, is currently looking for an Infrastructure Assistant to work on a 4 month initial basis.

You will assist in the operation of corporate ICT Infrastructure including the server and desktop assets, and be responsible for support, maintenance and minor upgrades to ensure resilience and optimal performance of all infrastructure systems and end-user devices. You will provide 2nd and 3rd line support where a request cannot be facilitated by the service desk.

Main Accountabilities

* Assists the development of new services by providing input into solutions design and implementation.

* Assist in the operational level performance for infrastructure systems against agreed levels and manages remediation actions as necessary, assisting of testing for security and communication systems and ensures that these can be recovered within the required timelines.

* Assists in the operational maintenance of infrastructure systems.

* Assists in the day-to-day activities and checks as part of the ongoing maintenance of ICT infrastructure (including systems and software) following a schedule of maintenance and upgrades.

* Assists in 2nd and 3rd line support and supporting disaster recovery processes with support activities to support business continuity. Undertakes problem management as required through analysis of repeated incidents.

* Assists in the planned and reactive maintenance, administration (including users), enhancements, configurations and minor upgrades to the ICT infrastructure ensuring optimum performance of network systems.

* Assists in change, project, security and system standards, ensuring the transition of new projects into the operating environment are successful.

* Adheres to the assets management process ensuring integrity of all asset databases and asset control.

* Develops a technical knowledge related to operation and management of security and communication systems ensuring operational activities are documented and knowledge and learning is effectively passed on to the service desk.

* Assists in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) within the Business for project based solutions and works with the project teams to set the training and user acceptance strategy for projects.

Required Skills/Knowledge

* Relevant in depth experience of ICT:
-Infrastructure systems development and/or procurement.
-Network Infrastructure and customisation/re-engineering and configuration.

* Significant experience of working in a corporate ICT environment

* Experience of working in a network systems role

* Experience of network role and managing issues

* Experience of Windows 7 and 8.1, VMWare, (VMWare Mirage), Office 2010 or 2013.
