Infrastructure Project Manager

Job description: My Client, a housing association in Hampshire, is currently looking for an Infrastructure Project Manager to work on an initial 6 month contract basis.

Within the role, you will be responsible for managing the general delivery of a number of IT Infrastructure Projects, hence you must have proven experience of managing Infrastructure Projects previously.


Main Responsibilities

* To develop and implement an effective annual work plan for IT Infrastructure projects
* To ensure that resources are used effectively and that appraisals are made for all strategic decisions.
* Maintain a documented overview of the status of all IT projects and provide update reports to various forums.
* Ensure that all projects are managed using the agreed processes.
* Maintain regular contact with all project sponsors and suppliers to ensure understanding and commitment for the plans and requirements.
* Appointment and day-to-day management of consultants and third parties to assist in the delivery of agreed IT projects.
* Assembly of multidisciplinary project teams to deliver specific projects.
* Avoidance and resolution of clashes involving resources, staff, projects and prioritisation
* Collation of project requirements and assisting users with the definition of their IT needs.
* Production of documentation to allow the IT programme board to make decisions regarding the approval or rejection of IT projects.
* Production of project specifications and agreement of project scopes.
* Organisation of tendering processes and product demonstrations.
* Building awareness amongst the Associations staff of the possible uses of new technology.


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or equivalent


Knowledge & Understanding

* Show a comprehensive awareness of existing and developing technologies and how they can be applied to the business.
* Ability to recognise business opportunities and present a clear strategic vision of how technology can be applied to achieve success.
* An understanding of the housing sector
Manage resources (people, process, risk, technology, data and cost)
* Understand the needs of the business
* Provide direction to your team
* Plan work to meet the corporate ambitions as well as achieving the day to day activities
* Use a coaching management style to support people across the business to give their best
* Try to provide interesting and varied work to people reporting to you
* Use technology to improve processes
* Make sure the data in the systems that you manage is up to date
* Manage budgets to ensure value for money


Skills

* Ability to be a catalyst for change
* Be a fluent and effective communicator
* Ability to manage complex teams
* Skilled negotiator able to develop relationships to obtain win-win outcomes
* Project Management, preferably PRINCE2 Foundation level
* ITIL foundation or understanding of service management principles.


Experience

* Extensive experience of leading and delivering challenging IT projects
* Track record of identification and successful implementation of new technologies
* Ability to transform ideas into workable projects
