Job description: Investigation and Enforcement Officer, Barnet
A London based council are recruiting for a Investigation and Enforcement Officer based in Barnet. Based in the Council's Community Safety Team, this post will support the Community Safety Partnership to respond to all forms of anti-social behaviour including environmental crime, unauthorised encampments, graffiti, flyposting, fly tipping.
The Role
-To adhere to local policies, practices and statutory guidance designed to respond to all forms of anti-social behaviour, investigations, enforcement and information sharing
-To manage a case load of ASB cases as identified by the Community Safety Manager, undertaking an assessment and multi-agency problem solving approach, securing partnership intervention to achieve successful timely resolution of the case.
-To investigate all cases and progressing enforcement action where appropriate, preparing case files, liaising with the legal team, securing detailed witness statements and evidence, recovering outstanding fine payments.
-To act as a point of contact for the Community Safety Team, a professional witness for the service, conduct and co-ordinate multi-agency site visits and environmental audits.
-To keep accurate case records, developing, monitoring and updating multiagency case action plans. Producing case briefings, power point presentation, keeping all stakeholders updated with progress including partners, elected members, victims, the local community affected, securing increased satisfaction and confidence in the response of the council and the police in dealing with the complaint.
-To support the various multi-agency delivery groups and case panels including the Community Safety MARAC, the ASB Working Group and relevant task and finish groups.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you must have:
-Up to date knowledge of enforcement legislation applicable to the Council's Community Safety function(s) including the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, and Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing act 2014 Act.
-Experience of directly related work/roles or suitable qualification in working in a multiagency Community Safety setting.
-Understanding of the process of the collation of evidence and structure of undertaking investigations for civil and criminal proceedings including understanding the essential requirement for note and witness statement taking and following up to ensure completion of actions.
-Understanding of Data Protection and information sharing processes and General Data Protection Regulations.
-Experience of multi-agency investigations and/or actions plans to problem solve the issues identified.
-Full Driving Licence

The Contract
This is a temporary contact starting ASAP for a 3 month period, working 37 hours per week.
