Job description: Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Investigator to work in Portishead for a local force.

This role is designed for investigations into conduct, public complaints and civil claims, for both police officers and police staff. For this role it is essential that candidates are ex-police officers that have worked for a UK based Police Force.

Key Responsibilities:

-To effectively manage investigations. This will include taking statements from officers, police staff and witnesses, whilst complying with all relevant legislation (PACE and associated employment law)
-To research information in relation to complaints and misconduct, following this, the investigation plan must be proportionate, appropriate and flexible.
-To arrange and attend discipline hearings and meetings, subsequently providing the necessary documentation to all relevant parties.
-To make decisions that are reasonable and justifiable, whilst taking into account criteria from a variety of sources and seek to achieve fair and unbiased resolutions.
-To undertake risk assessments on staff, officers, witnesses and complainants before conducting home visits.

It is essential the post holder has the following skills/experience:

-Experience and knowledge of conversational management interviewing techniques.
-Computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft packages (ie Word, Excel and Outlook)
-Experience of carrying out research and analysis which supports critical decision making.
-Proven experience of effective written and verbal communication skills to a high standard.
-Experience of carrying out research and/or investigation activities and dealing with any ambiguity with reports.

It is essential to have an understanding of PACE and how it applies to Police Conduct and procedures.
Further to this, candidates must have previous experience in taking witness statements and gathering evidence from a variety of sources.

A full driving licence will also be required for the role.
