Job description: Job Title: IT Development Manager
Salary: £48,175
Hours: 37 hours per week
Type: Permanent
Based: Sevenoaks, TN13

My client is looking for someone with a strong development background and excellent management skills to take on a new ICT Development Manager role in their organisation. The post holder will be responsible for managing the development and maintenance of key business systems and associated data interfaces.
You will have line management responsibility for the development team and will act as technical project manager on strategic projects alongside business managers. They will ensure that core business applications, databases and interfaces are properly maintained and enhanced in collaboration with internal and external application support and that project and technical documentation is kept up to date.
They are looking for someone who can lead their newly formed development team to deliver real value for business users who will have the ability to engage stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues to promote continuous improvement in ICT system.

Responsibilities -

*Overall responsibility for the prioritisation, allocation and delivery of development projects/tasks
*Line management responsibility for the Software Developer and Junior Software Developer
*Membership of Line Managers Team and provision of cover form Head of IT if required
*Develop and maintain key business systems and associated
data interfaces / integration
*Act as technical manager for development projects
*Ensure core business applications, databases and interfaces are properly maintained and enhanced in collaboration with internal and external application support.
*Ensure that key processes, such as mobile working software solutions are designed and built in line with business requirements
*Manage the implementation of new business systems
*Ensure that the development and testing environments are kept up to date.
*Make sure the technical specifications and documentation for systems and data
interfaces are kept up to date
*Engage stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues to promote continuous
improvement in IT
*Build strong relationships with business users and understand their ongoing requirements
*Understand business critical priorities across all teams to support business continuity
and the crisis management plan
*Support the delivery of the IT Work Plan
Essential Criteria -

*Experience of managing a development team and leading development projects
*Good team leadership and communication skills
*Experience in the use of development tools, guidelines and conventions including .NET, Microsoft SQL Server (including stored procedures)
*SQL Server Reporting Services inc. reporting on data warehouses
*Scripting skills such as PowerShell
*The creation of Entity Relationship Diagrams, understanding class design etc.
*Highly developed technical analysis and creative problem solving skills
*Ability to communicate complex technical issues to business users
*Ability to proactively manage tasks and prioritise own workload
*Ability to learn new systems and languages
*Good attention to detail while also maintaining a high level understanding of business requirements
*Ability to analyse data and recommend improvements to data integrity
*Able to develop new systems and processes to deliver better service
*Excellent customer service skills

Knowledge of the following would be highly beneficial:
*Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL
*Progress WebSpeed
*NDL MX mobile development (language similar to VB script)
*NDL SX integration scripting
