Job description: Are you a experienced IT Engineer? Looking for a new Challenge? Service Care Solutions are Looking for a IT Engineer to support a NHS trust in Priestley Wharf based in Birmingham.
Grade: IT Engineer
Hours: 09:00 to 17:00 (37.5 hours a week)
Start date: ASAP

Pay: £22phltd

Duties:
BCHC is looking to appoint a substantially experienced IT engineer whose level of infrastructure expertise is comparable to that of the expected role. Their primary responsibility will be for the on-going welfare and improvement of the core infrastructure.
The successful appointee:
*Will have at least 5 years' experience working in an equivalent IT environment
*Must have good/expert knowledge and experience in the following operating systems: MS Windows 2008, 2012.
*Must be proficient in VM ware, Citrix and supporting enterprise backup platforms.
*Will ideally have good knowledge of Cisco networks.
*Will have knowledge of common SAN, fibre channel and iSCSI configurations.
*Will ideally have substantial experience as a technician in an NHS or equivalent environment.


Main Duties

1 To ensure that the IT systems and network infrastructure operate efficiently on an on-going day-to-day basis and that down time is kept to an absolute minimum.
2 To assist with the maintenance of the Servers and to ensure effective operation including the security backup procedure in accordance with the SLA.

3To provide support assistance in the management of the implemented network and Active Directory solutions. This includes addressing: problem identification/resolution, capacity monitoring, patch/Anti-Virus management, backup process and electronic email.

4 To provide support assistance with varied mix of IT infrastructure technologies such as Netapps, Nutanix, Citrix, VMware, Solarwinds, Veeam, Unitrends and SCCM 2012
5 Developing processes to ensure the smooth transition of new services into the operational environment.
6 Long term strategic planning of the infrastructure estate with regard to version stability and required and planned capacity.
7 Project Management of significant technical activities for upgrades, re-builds and physical server moves between the server rooms and the data centre.

8 Contribute to the development of new and improved processes, using previous experience to influence and guide design and implementation, ensuring junior members of the team are educated to ensure compliance.
9 Supervising server administration junior staff when necessary to ensure maximum service available to the ICT service users.
10 To document IT system including the upkeep of server/data communication performance parameters and ensure that these are accessible for all members of the service. To development and improve IT procedures to ensure optimum security and performance of systems.
11 To utilise the network management software and firewall facilities in use within the organisation in accordance with the SLA's.
