IT Storage Engineer - Cheshire

Job description: My client, a local authority, is currently looking for an IT Storage Engineer to work on an initial 3 month contract.

Candidates will deal with the implementation and troubleshooting of SAN Storage and backup Infrastructure across multiple sites and at the primary Data Centre.
This will also include the administration of SAN Storage and backup including capacity management and monitoring.

Candidates will also be expected to assist in ensuring that devices are utilised to their optimum performance. Deal with Data capacity planning including an awareness of data retention policies within the organisation. Create and maintain network documentation to required standards, and also provide on-call cover as part of an existing team.

Key Skills/Experience for the role:

* Backup - Veritas Netbackup, and Enterprise Vault and Knowldege of TSM . the ability to look after the full Netbackup estate and deal with all types of backups / backup failure management etc. dealing with failures and issues.
* Tape Libraries - mixture of lt03/4/5/and 6 tape libraries ie ibm ts3310, and hp libraries. Ability to carry out tape management duties and fixing drive and any other library related issues.
* Storage - EMC VNX(block and File), VNXE, Dell Equallogic Arrays and Netapp. Providing full end to end support for all array related activities as needed.
* Provide 3rd level support as required
* Server Support (predominately Wintel) - all MS operating systems including 2016, Linux Desirable
* Virtual Platform - VMWare, Hyper-v all associated management tasks including provisioning of new vm's and any related issues that may arise.
* Exchange Platform - Exchg2013 and Exchange online
* Active Directory and Associated Technologies
* Monitoring toolsets - SCOM and other storage / backup related Monitoring. ESRS management
* Unsiphere and navicli experience
* Cloud Storage Azure knowledge experience
* Ability to produce working procedure documentation.
* Carrying out any project work as required to completion as needed.

Desirable/Non-Essential Skills:

* Familiarity with IBM, Dell and HP Servers.
* Experience of Citrix/XenApps.
* Data centre background/experience including High availability Clusters.
* Remote access/VPN technologies.
* Understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Infrastructure functions e.g.:- DHCP, DNS.
* Experience and working knowledge of ITIL and project management processes.

Additional requirements: -

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues and activities at an appropriate level for the audience. Possess the ability to work within a team environment or alone. To work within the standards and guidelines of the organisation with an understanding and appreciation of the objectives of the business and services provided. A capability to develop effective working relationships with both business clients and internal colleagues will be beneficial.
