IT Support Technician

Job description: My Client, a housing association in Hampshire, is currently looking for an IT Support Technician to work on an initial 3 month contract basis with extension a possibility to 6 months.

The purpose of this role is to deliver the organisation's IT support service to IT users and support the work of the business systems and infrastructure teams to ensure the IT Infrastructure, hardware, and systems are always available and staff know how to use them correctly.

This role is based in Basingstoke initially with support provided to both the Portsmouth & Basingstoke offices, however travel to the Portsmouth office will be required on occasion.

Main Responsibilities

* To deliver the IT Service Desk service in accordance with all Service Level Agreements.
* Provide a customer focused IT service to IT users.
* Provide support to the technical infrastructure team in maintaining the IT network and systems by assisting with diagnosing and logging faults.
* Assist in the administration and user support for mobile and fixed devices
* To administer system access for new employees, leavers and other changes as appropriate
* Liaise with other IT colleagues and 3rd party suppliers to ensure incidents and problems are resolved to agreed SLAs, processes & priority.
* Ensure IT information relating to users, equipment and software is accurate and up-to-date following any changes.
* Ensure staff are provided with the equipment they need to do their job
* Ensure IT equipment including desktops, printers, communications & other equipment are correctly used, maintained, replaced and disposed liaising with colleagues and other sections as required; whilst ensuring Value for Money and adherence to relevant legislation.

Knowledge and Experience

* Excellent technical troubleshooting skills (hardware and software)
* Hands on technical experience of working in a helpdesk environment.
* ITIL foundation or understanding of service management principles.
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experience of working within a structured IT department.
* Experience of using and supporting mobile devices
* Experience of supporting telephony solutions
* Previous experience of using and supporting Windows 10 and MS O365, Windows Server (including Active Directory), MS Exchange, Citrix and other software packages.
* Previous experience of supporting a variety of hardware, including PCs, laptops, thin client terminals, routers , hubs, switches and printers. Previous experience of using Service Desk software
* Substantial previous experience in a similar type of Service Desk role
