Job description: LAWYER - SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND EDUCATION
GLOUCESTERSHIRE AUTHORITY
100% REMOTE WORKING FOR THE WHOLE ASSIGNMENT
INITIAL 3 MONTHS, LIKELY 18-24 MONTHS

*This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Solicitor to provide high quality legal services in the areas of Special Educational Needs law and Education law.

*The role will commence as an initial 3 month assignment, followed by likely 18-24 months due to the fact this role is covering for permanent recruitment.

*The role will be 100% remote working for the duration of the assignment, not just during the lockdown. The council supports remote working and wants to attract the best candidates in the UK, regardless of their location. They would only be required to be in the office on one-off occasions as and when required.

About the Job

As a member of the County Council's Legal Team, to provide high quality legal services in the areas of Special Educational Needs law and Education law.

We expect that, as a Senior Lawyer Advocate within Legal Services, you will:

*Be a lead lawyer in providing high quality legal services in the area of law which will include being a lead lawyer on Special Educational Needs.
*Play an active role in developing and delivering training to client officers and members of the council and provide advice bulletins and guidance notes.
*To identify income opportunities for the future benefit of the service.
*Be a lead in providing high quality legal services in the areas of Special Educational Needs law.
*An ability to acquire and maintain knowledge in relation to Education law.
*Undertake advocacy and represent the Council in the Court arena.
*To represent Legal Services, the Council and external clients in meetings, including committee and member meetings, inquiries and working groups and in discussions with other legal practitioners at an appropriate level as and when required
*Contribute to the development and delivery of legal services.
*Exhibit the employee behaviours as indicated in the Council's People Strategy.
*Support the Principal Lawyer and Legal Services Business Partner in the management of the team.
*Ability to deal with sensitive issues with tact and confidentially.
*Ability to provide innovative, creative advice to clients in a pressurised environment
*Highly developed negotiating and listening skills with various groups of people and in a variety of different settings, including some of which may potentially end in conflict.
