Job description: An exciting new permanent opportunity has just become available for a Learning Disability Support Worker to join a Private Learning Disability Care Home based in Braintree!

Salary per hour: £10.82-12.10ph ltd
(£9-10ph PAYE exc)

Hours and length of contract:
*Permanent position
*Full or Part Time hours
oLong Days: 07:00 - 19:00
oLong Nights: 19:00 - 07:00
*The manager is looking for the position to be filled ASAP

Daily Duties:
You will be working within a private care home that supports around 15 adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, sensory impairments and associated complex needs, which can include:
*Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
*Asperger's Syndrome
*Bipolar Disorder
*Depression
*Downs Syndrome
*Epilepsy
*Personality Disorder
*Schizophrenia
*Speech and Language Difficulties

As a support worker you will provide high quality and compassionate care to the service users, be responsible for their general well-being and help them to live as independently as possible.
Daily duties include but are not limited to:
*Assisting Service Users, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
*Assisting Service Users in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual).
*Closely monitoring Service Users who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems.
*Observing and updating service user care plans
*Interacting with Service Users and helping them continue with hobbies and activities
*Answering the door and telephone appropriately.
*Reporting on the well-being of Service Users.
*Carrying out routine checks
*Ensuring the home is clean and tidy
*Assisting Service Users who need help during meal times
*Escorting Service Users traveling to and from the Care Home e.g. on social outings, hospital visits etc.
*Assisting service users with the general day-to-day management of their Home, such as helping them to complete domestic chores, to go shopping, etc.

Location
The home is situated within its own spacious grounds and benefits from panoramic views across the countryside, all whilst being a short distance away from the shops and pubs.

Person specification:
The applicant must have experience of working with Learning Disabilities, be DBS cleared, hold a current driving license and have an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
