Job description: A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a Principle Street Lighting Engineer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant Electrical/Lighting Engineering qualification, experience leading teams of lighting engineers and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to oversee a network of the clients streetlights/signs, Managing the asset risks, delivering a significant capital LED programme, and providing a street lighting design and delivery service for developer/council schemes and a good quality/high performance service to our community.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Responsibility for scheme development, design and project management to meet requirements of council programmes and developer requirements on new build estates, section 278 and section 106 schemes.
Bringing significant recent, proven knowledge and experience in street lighting to the role to provide technical expertise and advise including commenting on third party schemes and planning applications.
Ensure that the risks associated with the street lighting scheme and programmes are effectively managed.
Manage and direct resources of those working on the project and liaising with the council's in-house delivery team and external contractors to ensure that requirements are met.
Manage customer, developer and councillor enquires on street lighting and in relation to schemes/ programmes ensuring a good quality and timely response and resolution to agreed standards is achieved.
As a project manager ensure that the performance of those working on projects and programmes within your control eg. Council's in-house delivery team, contractors, Northern Power Grid and others to ensure that agreed targets of performance are achieved including costs, resources and quality.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Full engineering Degree or relevant experience in similar principle position
Full UK driving licence and own vehicle for business use
Working knowledge of relevant Health, Safety and Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practices.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £25 - £30 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx. £630 - £720 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
