Job description: Role: Local Land Charges Officer
Location: Waltamstow, E17
Contract: Temp ongoing contract
Work pattern: 36 hrs, Mon-Fri
Start date: ASAP
I'm currently looking for a Local Land Charges Officer to help support the work of the Land Charges department in collating and providing information in connection with the conveyancing process, to customers such as agents, solicitors, professional bodies and members of the public. To assist in the achievement of the authority's key priorities and the continuous improvement of its performance. To assist in maintaining consistency with the council's quality and equality approach to the delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities

*To ensure that all incoming searches refer to properties within the borough.
*To liaise with the contributing departments regarding replies received or queries about information required for the completion of searches.
*To check and ensure that full and personal searches are carried out promptly and efficiently within timescales set by the department.
*To compile and to maintain the Land Charges register as and when required and to check and ensure that all completed searches are correct for issuing.
*To ensure that all incoming searches have the prescribed fee.
*Manage payments and maintain the financial register held by the department.


Experience/Qualification:
*A general understanding of the Council services related to the Land Charges function and specifically Development Management, Planning Policy, Environmental Health, Highways and Building Control.
*A basic understanding of how services are provided in a Local Government context and political awareness about the issues facing local government
*A basic understanding of the legal and regulatory framework for Town Planning
*An understanding of the importance of customer satisfaction with a strong customer focused attitude.
*Experience of working within a successful team environment and contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of good working relationships between staff members, customers and councillors.
