Job description: Commercial Property Solicitor

Location: Lancashire
Job Type: Locum
Area of Expertise: Commercial Property
Salary: £DOE LTD per hour

A placement for a Commercial Property Locum to work within the Commercial Property team of a local authority in Lancashire for a period of 3-6 months with possible extension. The placement is full time and you will be working on major projects including construction bids and setting up council led developments. You will be dealing with complex and sensitive casework including advising on a range of policy and strategy, major projects and developments. The local authority will consider applicants from both public and private practice.

*Deal with complex and sensitive case work including leasehold, commonhold, freehold and land transactions
*Assist with all areas of the local authority's commercial property work
*Deal with regeneration matters regarding the compulsory acquisition of land
*Deal with all procurement and contractual matters impacting on the local authority's policy objectives
*Support the commercialisation plans of the Council's development scheme
*Represent the Legal Services department and Council at Cabinet, Committees, Boards, Panels, officer groups and at regional, national and European levels
*Advise on the implications of new legislation and case law
*Advise on legal, ethical and governance issues

*Experience of working for a local authority
*Admitted solicitor or barrister
*Experience of political awareness and successful management of issues relating to politics
*In depth knowledge of Commercial Law or Contract Law or Property Law
*Knowledge or willingness to work with Procurement Law
*Current knowledge of local government legislation and government guidance
*Understanding of data production, freedom of information and confidentiality requirements
*Able to appropriately motivate and influence people
*Ability to plan, meet deadlines, initiate and implement change an prioritise competing demands
*IT skills
*Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Borough
