Job description: I am currently recruiting for a Mobile Support Officer based in the London Borough of Merton. This is a 6 month contact working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm (no weekend work). You must have a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile. You must also have an Enhanced DBS.

The role is to support elderly in order to enable them to retain their independence in their own home. Sheltered housing schemes are intended to enable older people or people with support needs to retain their independence in their own home, whilst having the additional security of a scheme manager to provide support. Being a Mobile Support officer you will have your own dedicated sheltered housing scheme to manage whilst covering other schemes in times of absences of that scheme manager, in emergencies or assisting with an event at that scheme such as a Fire Drill.

Some of your key duties will include :

* To complete viewings and undertake basic needs & risk assessments with perspective new residents
* Implement support plans and proactively promote technology enabling existing and new customers to remain independent in their own homes
* Day to day responsibility for the smooth running of the scheme ensuring that residents receive the appropriate support and services.
* Ensure that support plans are completed and updated as required to set targets
* Contact residents personally or as identified in their support plan to check they are safe and well.
* To be aware of procedures regarding the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
* Attend various meetings as and when requested
* Try to resolve any general queries/disputes relating to residents, brief Project Manager on unresolved issues.
* To encourage social interaction of residents through events and meetings within own Sheltered Housing Scheme/s and externally
* Engage with residents to understand their priorities
* Support the development of Resident Representatives and the Sheltered Housing Forum
* Actively provide support to enable resident social activities

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

* Knowledge of sheltered housing and its purpose
* Knowledge and experience of support planning and risk assessments
* Knowledge of health and safety
* Experience of assisting with the care and support needs of older people
* Experience of Safeguarding Adults
* Experience of working with elderly or mental health/substance misuse setting
* Experience of housing management and referring clients to third party agencies
