Job description: Move-On Officer, Northampton.

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Move-On Officer for a local authority based in Northampton. As a Move-On Officer based in Northampton, you will require experience in working within a Temporary Accommodation Team, providing service user support, as well as working with service users and moving them on from Temp Accommodation. Working experience with Choice Based Lettings will also be highly beneficial.

In this role you will actively monitor the progress of homeless households' housing applications, ensuring that households have provided the local authority with all of the information it requires to activate their housing application and that they are actively 'bidding' for properties through the choice based lettings scheme.

As well as providing homeless households with advice, practical help and support while they are living in temporary accommodation, you will act as a point of contact between the households and members of the Homelessness Team, ensuring that decisions are made as quickly as possible and that every effort is made to enable the household to move into settled housing at the earliest opportunity.

Whilst in this position you will actively monitor the progress that the employer and the Registered Providers are making to ensure that void properties are made ready for occupation as quickly as possible if they have been allocated to, or are earmarked for, homeless households who are living in temporary accommodation.

As well as minimising the Council's use of B&B, you will play a pivotal role in removing 'blockages' that are preventing or delaying homeless households' move-on from temporary accommodation, and they will ensure that accommodation is withdrawn in a timely manner when the Council's homelessness duty has ended.

You will also take decisive action to ensure that everyone involved in the rehousing process acts with the appropriate degree of urgency to avoid the need for homeless households to move into temporary accommodation and, where this is not possible, to minimise the amount of time they spend in it.

This is a 3-month vacancy with a good chance of extension.
