Job description: Neighbourhood Assistant - Solihull
A local authority in Solihull are recruiting for a Neighbourhood Assistant to be responsible for delivering excellent customer service across all operational functions within Neighbourhood Services including Anti-Social Behaviour, Pre Tenancy, Tenancy Management, Estate Management and Income Collection

The Role
The focus of this vacancy is to provide support to Neighbourhood Officers and assist in the delivery of generic housing services that include Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), Pre and Post Tenancy Management, Estate Management and Rent Arrears. You will undertake a range of duties across all areas of Neighbourhood Services and be responsible for providing excellent customer service.
This will include the following skills and responsibilities:
*Assist and support Neighbourhood Officers during interviews, home visits and court attendance
*You will manage and take ownership of your own caseload dealing with a range of generic housing issues such as anti-social behaviour, pre and post tenancy management, estate management and rent arrears
*Arrange home visits and conduct face to face interviews with customers
*Organise pre tenancy interviews, welfare reform assessments, mutual exchanges, pre vacation (transfers) and accompanied viewings.
*Complete comprehensive tenancy audits and reviews
*Prepare legal notices such as Notices to Quit and Notices of Seeking Possession
*Provide effective support across the multi-functional team
*Complete fire risk assessments
*Write letters, reports and assist with the recording of minutes
*Extract and provide statistical information from IT systems on behalf of the team and service area
*Compile reports as required

The Candidate
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload so will need to have an understanding of the social and physical context of neighbourhoods and how to manage and resolve issues and enquiries, together with good communication and IT skills.
As the role is within the Housing arm of the authority, any prior experience of working within Housing will be highly beneficial, especially and knowledge of the tools and powers available under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, and the issues faced by tenants living in social housing.
You will require excellent customer service and IT skills also. As frequent travel around the area is essential to the role, you will also require a driving license and access to a vehicle for work.

The Contract
This is a full time role on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong chance of being extended.
