Job description: A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a NRSWA Inspector to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant NRSWA qualification, strong experience within highways/street works teams and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.

The main purpose of the role is to deliver, on a day-to-day basis, a qualitative, efficient and effective highway inspection service, based on best practice and the delivery of high quality outcomes, to progress and assist in managing highway engineering matters.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Undertake specific technical support duties within the RASWA Team.
Participate in the team working approach to the allocation of duties within the RASWA Team, where necessary leading small teams.
Establish effective working relationships with officers of other Services and Departments to enable the RASWA team to play a full and effective role in the corporate working of the authority so that Council objectives can be achieved.
Ensure that departmental services are provided to the highest quality/standard with due recognition of client and customer requirements, in accordance with the Council's Customer Care and Equal Opportunities policies.
Meet the public and representatives of other Services and Departments as necessary and provide appropriate information on request.
Contribute to the maintenance of good employee relations within Highways & Engineering
Work within recognised safe systems of work at all times
Adhere to and apply legislation, Council Standing Orders and procedures as appropriate.
To provide cover to other areas of work in response to changes in the workload and operational requirements.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

A qualification in Highway or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
NRSWA Supervisors accreditation.
Demonstrable engineering experience in highway inspections.
A good understanding and knowledge of relevant highway and traffic legislation, procedures, codes of practice, regulations, licensing and best practice in customer care.
Knowledge of street lighting, street furniture, civil and highway engineering issues as they affect the inner city and the highway infrastructure.
Knowledge of Best Value legislation, performance indicators etc.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £16 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx. £430 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
