Job description: A local authority based in Kent is looking for a Highways/Streetworks Inspector to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full NRSWA qualification, extensive experience dealing with all manner of highways/Streetworks projects and ideally have a strong background in local authority positions.

The main purpose of the role is to assist in the management of the Streetworks and road works, ensuring that these comply with the requirements of the NRSWA and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and to ensure that disruption is minimised on the road network. This will involve working out on the network and undertaking inspections in line with statutory requirements, working closely with both public utility companies and the council's own contractor.

The main experience needed to undertake the role are as follows;

Experience of carrying out and recording inspections at all stages of the construction cycle, and be able to instigate the defect procedure for non-compliance.
Be fully conversant with Streetworks packages, and have the ability to manipulate data in such packages.
Experience in the supervision of civil engineering contracts, and road opening and reinstatement procedures
Ability to demonstrate a wide understanding of customer needs and being able to manage their expectations.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of how teams work with other services and takes a proactive approach towards helping others.
Demonstrable experience of coping well under pressure and difficult situations, able to identify and act on own development needs.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

NRSWA Accreditation
IT skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the street works computer package (Confirm).
Must be able to drive and have use of a car for work.
Ability to manage time effectively, planning own workload and setting appropriate objectives and deadlines.
Demonstrable experience of thoroughly analysing information, and considering alternative solutions, adapting to new ways of working where necessary.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering a rate of between £16 p/hr and £21 p/hr Umbrella Ltd dependant on experience/skills (Approx. £420 - £530 p/week NET after deductions) for the duration of the assignment.
