Job description: Service Care Health are actively seeking an Occupational therapist with social services experience to work for a council around the Hull area.

You will be working 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday on a 37 hour contract until 31/09/2017, although, there are potential opportunities for permanent positions for those who perform to or above the desired standard.

As a social service occupational therapist you will asses and provide aids and adaptations to promote independence and reduce admissions. You will also be responsible for managing their case load which will include some complex cases. The council provide services for children, adults, prisons, sensory, blue badge mobility assessments and re-ablement.

To become a successful candidate, you will need knowledge and awareness of the Care Act and the Health and Social Care agenda and have a sound understanding of the key issues facing Adult Social Care. You should also have expert knowledge of disabled facilities grants, aids and adaptations and complex moving and handling and as such have an appropriate degree level qualification in Occupational Therapy with valid HCPC registration. Additionally, you will have a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for vulnerable people, and appreciation of the importance of prevention and safeguarding.

A car is essential as you will be assessing people in their own homes in a rural area. As the council are engaging in more initiatives to promote independence, prevent admission and facilitate discharge from additional funding via Better Care Fund the team needs to be in a position to meet increased demands to support new projects. They therefore require an individual who embraces the changes that Adult Social Care is facing with positivity and imagination. As such they are seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of their dynamic team of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Sensory Technicians within Adult Social Care.

You will also need to have excellent report writing skills, good IT skills and be able to communicate at all levels. As part of a busy team, you will need to be able to work under pressure and demonstrate personal resilience, flexibility and good time management skills.
