Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are currently recruiting a Peace Officer to cover long term sickness. This role is initially for a 3 month contract and has the opportunity to be extended further.

The Role:
To develop & deliver the Peace IV Programme through the provision of general & specialist support for existing & potential community groups & individuals within the local area.
This role will involve working with Partner Delivery Organisations & in the community to explore issues relating to the conflict including prejudice, discrimination & integration & to draw on best practice, providing training & relevant projects in promoting positive relations & challenging sectarian & racist attitudes.

Hours of work: 37 hrs per week

Requirements:
* Have a 3rd level qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Level 4 etc.) AND 1 year's experience in All of the following:
o Developing & implementing good relations projects
o Successfully managing & delivering a variety of projects simultaneously & achieving results to meet timeframes
o Development of successful working partnerships with a wide range of groups & individuals
o Administrating a project budget

OR
* In lieu of a 3rd level qualification, have 2 years' experience in All of the following:
o Developing & implementing good relations projects
o Successfully managing & delivering a variety of projects simultaneously & achieving results to meet timeframes
o Development of successful working partnerships with a wide range of groups & individuals
o Administrating a project budget
* Knowledge of relevant statutory bodies government departments, EU structures & other sources of funding
* Be able to demonstrate competence in use of email & Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Hold a full current driving licence & access to transport, or access to transport to meet the requirements of the post
* Ability to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings, weekends & public/bank holidays

Desirable:
* Degree level qualification
* Have experience of designing, implementing & delivering training programmes

In Return:
* Rates of Pay: £13.72 p/hr
