Peripatetic Neighbourhood Officer - Oldham

Job description: Service Care Solutions have an excellent opportunity to work for one of our newest clients in the housing sector. If you are looking to work for a large, well-structured organisation who have major growth plans in the pipeline then this is the role for you! They currently have an opportunity for a Peripatetic Neighbourhood officer to work on a temporary basis covering maternity leave.

We are looking for an experienced housing professional to provide a holistic resource to support the Neighbourhoods, Co-operative Communities, Housing Advice and Income Collection Teams. This post will primarily be utilised to support where there are resource issues within a team so a candidate with all-round generic housing experience will be preferred.

Job responsibilities -
*To pursue all current and former debts from the earliest possible stage in a systematic manner, making immediate and regular contact with service users to clarify their situation, agree repayment schedules, and monitor debts until cleared.
*To collect current and former tenants arrears, garage and shop rent arrears, legal costs, recharges, Housing Benefit over payments, water charges, and other debts arising out of agreements entered into by the Organisation
*To tackle anti-social behaviour using the procedures provided ensuring the response is appropriate and fair and customers feel supported
*To ensure tenancies are allocated in line with the Allocation Policy, Government Codes of Guidance and the procedures, whilst being mindful of any local lettings policies in operation.
*To select the most suitable applicants from a short list of bidders for advertised properties and to make offers of tenancies from these short lists, as well as to select applicants for properties that are to be allocated outside of the bid-based system. Ensure that a clear audit trail is in place for all offers

Essential Criteria -
*Knowledge of relevant legislation, government regulations and current issues in financial inclusion / debt recovery / rent accounting
*Experience in working within housing management or within a housing management team
*Experience of working under pressure, organising and prioritising workloads to meet specific deadlines
