Job description: I am currently recruiting for a probation service officer to work in Reading.

Do you have a background in working with vulnerable or challenging individuals and a passion for helping people? Could you help someone turn their life around? Does making your local community a safer place to live motivate you?

If you have experience as a probation service officer already and are looking for a permanent role then please do get in touch.

What do Probation Services Officers do?

Probation Services Officers play a vital role in our Offender Management team, working directly with service users ranging from low to medium risk.

You will manage your own caseload and be responsible for the delivery of individual and group based interventions to help the people we work with reintegrate back into society.

Main tasks:

* Assessing the needs and risks posed by service users.
* Planning the supervision required to make sure they are actively engaged in the process.
* Keeping accurate records in line with national standards so we can monitor their progress.

What skills & qualifications will I need?

You don't need a degree to be a Probation Services Officer; it's far more important to us that you can be a positive role model and work in partnership with others.

* Experience of working with people who are experiencing difficulties, for example as a social worker.
* Emotionally intelligent, resilient and calm under pressure: the kind of person who can build rapport quickly and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
* Strong report-writing skills are also a must.
