Job description: A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a Project Manager (Construction/Capital Works) to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant construction qualification, experience dealing with a multitude of building/construction projects and ideally a strong background in local authority settings.

The main purpose of the role is to undertake project management duties on a range of capital projects involving multi-discipline and single discipline teams preparing new build, refurbishment and remodelling building contracts.
This will include the management of capital programmes, commissions, budgets and the supervision of external consultants where necessary.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

You will provide accurate and timely cost control and the promotion of high standards in relation to cost control is particularly important.
You will lead in promoting best practice in project and programme management, cost control, commercial and contractual aspects affecting service delivery, including applying information technology to best advantage. Projects are delivered to uniform standards following the quality management procedures of the Service.
As a competent practitioner you will possess the necessary skills to support, motivate and lead people, contributing to the continuous improvement and development of the Service and its employees.
You will be required to deliver assigned projects in the Council's property related capital and revenue investment plans and manage staff within a commercial environment.
You will be required to provide useful, accurate and understandable advice to Elected Members, Council, Cabinet, Scrutiny Committee, Senior Council Officers etc.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

A construction related qualification to a graduate or professional qualification level
Post qualification experience in the application of the knowledge for delivery of construction related capital projects and services
Planning, delivering and evaluating a series of interrelated activities
Knowledge and experience gained from working within a multi-disciplined professional design environment
The development of the professional, commercial, contractual and legal factors affecting the Service.
Understanding of construction and procurement processes, contract administration, technical language and information, interpreting these for others.
The ability to apply financial control and manage the complexities of multi and single disciplinary design projects in a politically sensitive and commercial environment.
A proven track record in delivery of construction related projects, managing complex organisation, programme/s and project risks.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (Approx. £730 p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
