Job description: Project Worker Young People - Newbury

This is a 35 hour week contract working between 7:30am to 09:00pm on a rota basis including evenings, weekends and an on call service. There are additional payments for the on call service.

You must have an Enhanced DBS to be considered for this position.

You would be working within our client's care and support team providing flexible housing related support to service users. The main purpose of the Project Worker role is to jointly manage the project in conjunction with other members of the team and to provide support and advice to service users.

The accommodation is made up of 29 units, providing beds for single young people and young mothers. The current team consists of 4.5 project workers reporting to the team leader. Our client provides a 24/7 service for service users, and the succesful candidate will be required to adapt to a rotating shift pattern, working either early or late shifts between 07:30 - 21:00. In addition to this, the role requires the right candidate to be flexible and be able to take the on call service.

The successful candidate will be required to work with Young People. You will be providing support on a one to one or group basis providing advice and guidance in order to develop independent living skills. This is an exciting role allowing the successful candidate to plan their own work with the management and team of the project.

We are looking for a candidate that is able to keep professional boundaries and manage these in a consistent manner and facing challenging behaviour from young people.

Key duties:

Work within the Rota shift pattern as required, maintain a friendly and supportive environment within the project.
To deal with the immediate support needs of the service users as appropriate.
To provide advice to service users on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary.
To assess individual needs and assist service users in obtaining access to all forms of primary health care, substance misuse workers and other specialist agencies when required.
To maintain records and electronic systems, including clients' files, in an accurate and up to date fashion.
To work with service users in producing ongoing care plans and ensure case reviews are carried out and that case plans are implemented and adequate case records are maintained.
To keep abreast of current housing legislation, welfare benefit legislations and other matters relevant to successful support and move on of service users.

The ideal candidate is required to have previous experience in working within supported housing or helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change. They will be required to have a working knowledge of appropriate housing and benefits law and the rights of single homeless people and to advise and assist clients accordingly.
