Job description: Project Worker - Stockport
A local authority in Stockport are recruiting for four project workers to support in the day to day running of their temporary accommodation schemes, maintaining a good standard of temporary accommodation, provided for homeless families, single men, single women.

The Role
The focus of the role is to support in the day to day running of the temporary accommodation schemes, maintaining a good standard of temporary accommodation and offer practical support and advice to promote resident independence and development and deal with emergency situations. This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
*Collect rent/service charges and support residents to set up bank accounts and direct debits
*Ensure the comfort and wellbeing of residents and minimise distress by a sympathetic and common sense approach to emergency situations and if required, contact the appropriate agency for assistance, in line with Safeguarding and other relevant procedures.
*Agree and implement individual support plans and assist in the co-ordination and monitoring of the provision of support to clients
*Advise and work with clients in practical issues relative to individual need
*Accompany residents where required to appointments and meetings outside the scheme in a supporting role
*Carry out health and safety checks of individual properties and communal areas, reporting any faults or repairs and keeping accurate records
*Receive all callers to the scheme, providing access and assistance to all residents, visitors, officials, contractors and ensure the premises are secure.
*Admit and discharge residents at the scheme, and ensure that relevant forms are completed and signed by residents and that all procedures are followed

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following skills and experience:
*Demonstrate empathy whilst maintaining healthy boundaries ensuring own views are not imposed on clients
*Demonstrate confidence in challenging behaviour/resistance in others (e.g. anti-social behaviour, poor motivation)
*Demonstrate previous experience of providing support/befriending service to vulnerable people
*Awareness of general resident support needs and a knowledge of specific support services/referral systems
*Basic understanding of the benefits system, current rates of benefit and entitlement
*Awareness of issues relating to people who are homeless
*Flexibility - working times/unsociable hours

The Contract
These vacancies are a full time on initial 3 month contracts with a strong chance of being extended.
Shift work consisting of early, late and mid shifts including weekends on a rota basis, as below:
*Week 1 - Early shift (8am - 4pm)
*Week 2 - Late shift (2pm - 10pm)
*Week 3 - Mid shift (10.30am - 5pm Monday-Wednesday, rest day Friday, Saturday & Sunday 9am - 7pm)
*Week 4 - Mid shift (10.30am - 5pm Monday, rest day Tuesday, 10.30 - 5pm Wednesday - Friday)]
