Job description: My client, a local authority based in Kent is looking for a Public Health Intelligence Analyst to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate will have a degree level qualification, highlighting strong numeracy skills in a public/environmental health field, specialist knowledge of analytical and statistical techniques and ideally experience in local authority/public sector projects.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for enabling the Public Health directorate of the council to implement its strategic objectives by providing public health information, analysis and interpretation to support business planning, policy development and performance monitoring.

The main responsibilities of the role will include the following;

Use advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of epidemiology and statistics to analyse and interpret varied and complex information to provide accurate and up to date health and health-related information from a diverse range of data systems and sources; assist in the management of statistical resources and critically appraise academic publications and local and national policies to influence the commissioning of services.
They will support the development of public health projects informed by Public Health Intelligence and lead on the development of public health projects informed by public health intelligence that require advanced analytical, computational statistics and modelling skills. In doing so, they will manage relationships with internal and external partners in multi-agency work to improve the health and social care system in Medway.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate excellent writing skills and be able to rapidly appraise and summarise complex medical, public health and other literature.
The post holder will keep up to date with new evidence, national guidance and protocols and work in the context of the Department of Health's White Paper, 'Healthy Lives, Healthy People' and the Public Health Outcomes Framework to reduce health inequalities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Post-graduate qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, reflecting strong numeracy skills ideally in a discipline relevant to health information or public health intelligence.
Specialist knowledge and experience of statistical, analytical and epidemiological techniques and procedures, acquired through degree level or equivalent plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge of the determinants of health and measurements of health inequalities and inequities.
Proven ability to rapidly and accurately review academic literature on a given topic.
Substantial experience with demonstrable success in ability to write clearly, concisely and accurately about potentially complex issues.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £20 - £30p/hr Umbrella Ltd (approx. £490 - £690 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
