Job description: My client based in Caerphilly has a new position available for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary position and the successful candidate will hold a full UK driving licence and will hold a relevant professional qualification.

The main Purpose of this role is to Assist the PM in the provision of an efficient and effective QS and Contract Management Service.

Key Result Areas

*Capital projects completed on time and within budget.

*Clients satisfied with the professionalism of the work undertaken on their behalf.

*Provide clear, timely, accurate information, advice and reports to the Project Manager and Deputy Head of Programmes, external clients, partner organisations.

*Evaluate risks associated with projects and to constantly review project finances in light of the risk evaluations. Reporting results to the Project Manager.

*Assist the Project Manager in the creation of a bill of quantities and schedule of rates.

*Ensure completion and reporting of timely evaluations for internal and external contractors.

Task Profile

*Responsible for providing quantity surveying and estimating services for internal and external schemes to ensure the best use of available resources.

*Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.

*Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.

*Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.

*Performing risk, value management and cost control.

*Advising on technical aspects of procurement strategy.

*Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.

*Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.

*Assist the Project Manager in the creation and maintenance of a schedule of rates. These are the core documents utilised for the control and expenditure of the WHQS implementation program.

*Providing advice on contractual claims.

*Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.

*Valuing completed work and arranging payments.

*Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.

Key Working Relationships

*Support an area group to ensure that housing improvements and maintenance are undertaken within agreed timescales and to customer satisfaction needs.

*Liaise and consult with statutory bodies, Gas Safe, Health and Safety Executive and various specialist contractors and consultants as necessary.

*Audit - Correspondence with and/or Informal discussions to settle queries on Final Accounts.

*Procurement - for material prices contained within annual contracts and procurement frameworks.

*Legal Department - Correspondence with Legal - to provide specific Tender Information. Contract Documentation for Orders over £50k.

*Finance - to request Specific Job Cost information and deal with any queries in this area of work.

Recognised RICS or CIOB professional qualification at degree level or equivalent
