Job description: Rent Account Manager, Nottingham
A local authority based in Nottingham are recruiting for a Rent Account Manager to visit and interview tenants offering effective support and advice to help them pay their rent on time, striving to recover arrears and make agreements with them to pay debt.

The Role
The focus of this role is to support tenants and maximise rent income. Working closely with other agencies, you will advise on welfare benefits and signpost tenants to specialist agencies when needed. Enforcement will come under your remit and you will begin possession proceedings when necessary. This will include the following responsibilities:
*To provide detailed advice, support and assistance to customers regarding rent arrears and welfare benefits.
*To ensure tenancies are sustained by providing support and advice to vulnerable tenants or those identified with a support need; and referral to specialist agencies where appropriate.
*Ensure rent accounts and former rent accounts are managed as effectively as possible.
*To review all accounts, taking action in accordance with current policy and procedures, including debt advice and repayment agreements.
*To ensure that accurate records are maintained of arrears actions, contacts, visits made and agreements reached.
*To Serve NSPs and NOPPITs as required by the Rent Operations Manager and commence possession proceedings where appropriate, monitoring compliance with court orders and attending evictions.
*To undertake projects to reduce debts and meet targets in all areas of current and former debt owed.
*To work in partnership with internal and external partners such as Housing Benefits, Social Services, and other statutory and voluntary agencies in order to implement solutions to arrears problems.
*To take and receive payments from customers

The Candidate
With an NVQ Level 3 in Housing Management, part qualification in CIH or equivalent, or willing to work towards qualification, you will be experienced in a housing environment. With a background in rent collection or debt recovery, you will have a working knowledge of relevant legal procedures and welfare benefits. With strong communication skills, you will be used to visiting customers in their own home, and comfortable with lone working

The Contract
This role is being offered on a part time and full time basis, so hours are reasonably flexible. The contract is for an initial 1 month, to cover a period of sickness.
