Job description: Residential Care Officer needed for West Berkshire Council, £11 ltd an hour

Start Date- ASAP
Contract End date- 3 months initially
Hours per week - Shift times: Weekends: (7am-2.30pm/2pm-9.30pm) Weekdays: (2pm-9.30pm)
Pay rate - £11 ltd an hour
Location - Newbury

Description
*To provide a stimulating person centred service for children living with disabilities inclusive of challenging behaviour
*To provide good quality short breaks and respite opportunities for disabled children and young people within a residential 6 bed unit.
*To participate in the implementation of placement plans, including provision for children's physical and personal care needs and their emotional, intellectual and social well-being. This will include dealing with behaviour difficulties and vulnerabilities, participating in the development of placement plans and attendance and involvement in children's reviews.
*To participate in a duty rota to provide 24-hour care, which includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required ensuring adequate service provision. Sleeping in duties will be undertaken.
What is required?
*Must have experience with physical disabilities, moving and positioning, autism, sensory and communication impairment.
*Good standard of general education with GCSE in Maths and English
*NVQ 3 or equivalent in Child Care or equivalent qualification
*Experience of working within a child care setting
*Experience and the ability to deal with complex situations involving young people and families
*Flexible working: you will need to work flexibly with equipment as no permanent office space is available and to cover evenings, weekends and holiday periods as required.
